The National Examinations Department has confirmed that only boys will be allowed to take this year’s national entrance exam known as ‘Kankor’.
Last year, the Taliban limited the fields of study girls could apply for.
However, the department tweeted today that only boys would be taking part in this year’s exams.
“In this year’s entrance examination of the Ministry of Higher Education, we have only collected the subscription cards of male students,” the department tweeted.
The department claimed the Higher Education Ministry alone decided who would take the test.
The entrance exam will be held in five rounds, starting with the provinces of Logar, Paktia, Takhar, Baghlan, Jawzjan, Sar Paul, Faryab, Ghor, Bamyan, Daikundi and Khost on July 20 and 21.
