Around 200 protesters took to the streets on Friday morning in Kabul to protest the recent deadly attacks on Hazaras in Afghanistan.
The Taliban responded violently and shot into the air to disperse the protesters. They also detained dozens of protesters.
Atifa, a local journalist who covered the protest, said around 200 took part in the protest.
They chanted “stop killing Hazaras,” and “being Hazara should not be a crime.”
“The majority of the protesters today were schoolchildren,” said Khalida, a female protester.” “It started from Barchi and the destination was the presidential palace, however, it was stopped by the Taliban in the Naqqash area of Barchi.”
The recent attacks on Hazaras left scores killed and wounded in Kabul and Northern Mazar-e-Sharif.
