{"id":10159,"date":"2022-07-04T01:01:17","date_gmt":"2022-07-03T20:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/?p=10159"},"modified":"2022-07-04T01:01:20","modified_gmt":"2022-07-03T20:31:20","slug":"taliban-banned-playing-music-in-wedding-halls-in-herat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/en\/taliban-banned-playing-music-in-wedding-halls-in-herat\/","title":{"rendered":"Taliban banned playing music in wedding halls in Herat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By: Rukhshana Media <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Taliban\u2019s Directorate of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Herat have forced the owners of 82 wedding halls to sign a commitment letter based on which they will not allow anyone to play music during the wedding parties anymore, sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One source, who is the owner of a wedding hall, said the Taliban warned if they catch anyone playing music in the wedding halls, \u201cthe owner of the hall, groom, and the groom\u2019s father will be detained and imprisoned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The owner of the hall, who spoke on the condition that we don&#8217;t publish his name, said the Taliban ordered that no man, even the groom himself, isn\u2019t allowed to visit the female section of the wedding hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Afghanistan, the weddings were already gender-segregated, but male family members of both the bride and groom could visit the female section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second source, who is also the owner of a wedding hall in Herat, said the Taliban warned that \u201ctheir intelligence is strong, and they will find out if we secretly play music in wedding halls,\u201d and if they catch us the punishment will be \u201cimprisonment and the closure of the hall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He, like the first source, spoke on the condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new restrictions will affect the wedding hall businesses negatively as they are already going through an economic downturn since the Taliban\u2019s return to power in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Taliban banned music during its first rule in the 1990s.
