{"id":26697,"date":"2024-07-09T14:27:33","date_gmt":"2024-07-09T09:57:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/?p=26697"},"modified":"2024-07-09T14:27:35","modified_gmt":"2024-07-09T09:57:35","slug":"badakhshan-hospital-closes-maternity-unit-leaving-women-without-medical-care-and-dozens-of-female-staff-jobless","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/en\/badakhshan-hospital-closes-maternity-unit-leaving-women-without-medical-care-and-dozens-of-female-staff-jobless\/","title":{"rendered":"Badakhshan hospital closes maternity unit, leaving women without medical care and dozens of female staff jobless"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 60-bed maternity unit of a hospital in northern Badakhshan province has closed, raising concerns for women in the province and leaving around 73 female staff unemployed, according to two hospital sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sources said that the hospital had been sponsored by an international non-profit organization for the past six years, but staff have been told the hospital no longer has the budget for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not clear how or why the funding was cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the staff to lose their jobs are four specialists and several doctors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSince the closure of the 60-bed women&#8217;s section, currently only one government unit with 30 beds is operational to provide health services to mothers and newborns.
