{"id":4723,"date":"2021-11-22T03:27:34","date_gmt":"2021-11-21T22:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/?p=4723"},"modified":"2021-11-22T03:27:37","modified_gmt":"2021-11-21T22:57:37","slug":"taliban-banned-airing-movies-with-women-actors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/en\/taliban-banned-airing-movies-with-women-actors\/","title":{"rendered":"Taliban banned airing movies with women actors"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>By Rukhshana Media<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the most recent restriction on media and women, the Taliban banned television channels from airing movies with women actors, the group\u2019s senior officials said on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a new media guideline released on Sunday, the Taliban\u2019s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice ordered media to not broadcast movies that are opposed to the \u201cprinciples of Sharia and Afghan values\u201d and depict \u201cwomen actors.\u201d It also ordered women journalists working for local TV channels to \u201cobserve Islamic hijab.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new, eight-points regulations is the second guideline issued to the media.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On September 19, <a href=\"https:\/\/rsf.org\/en\/news\/afghanistan-11-journalism-rules-imposed-taliban-open-way-censorship-and-arbitrary-decisions-rsf\">the group issued media regulations<\/a> which asked journalists and media not to produce content \u201ccontrary to Islam\u201d and not to report on \u201cmatters that have not been confirmed by officials.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new guideline was released in a meeting between the Taliban acting minister for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, Sheikh Mohammad Khalid, the group&#8217;s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, and representatives of some media in the Afghan capital, Kabul.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSome media are broadcasting programs that are contrary to Islamic Sharia and Afghan traditions. They must avoid broadcasting them because they corrupt youths&#8217; mentality and beliefs,\u201d the acting minister is quoted as saying by the state news agency, <a href=\"https:\/\/bakhtarnews.af\/dr\/%D8%B1%D8%B3%D8%A7%D9%86%D9%87-%D9%87%D8%A7-%D8%A8%D8%A7%DB%8C%D8%AF-%D9%85%D8%B7%D8%A7%D8%A8%D9%82-%D8%B4%D8%B1%DB%8C%D8%B9%D8%AA-%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%84%D8%A7%D9%85%DB%8C-%D9%86%D8%B4%D8%B1%D8%A7%D8%AA\/\">Bakhtar news<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new restriction comes amid growing concern over media censorship and exclusion of women journalists from working in the media. In the past two months, <a href=\"https:\/\/rsf.org\/en\/news\/afghanistan-11-journalism-rules-imposed-taliban-open-way-censorship-and-arbitrary-decisions-rsf\">Reporters Without Borders<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hrw.org\/news\/2021\/10\/01\/afghanistan-taliban-severely-restrict-media\">Human Rights Watch<\/a> have issued warnings about the Taliban censorship of media and their restriction on women journalists.&nbsp;Since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in mid-August, <a href=\"https:\/\/tolonews.com\/afghanistan-174627\">over 150 media outlets<\/a> are closed, <a href=\"https:\/\/cpj.org\/2021\/09\/taliban-fighters-detain-flog-and-beat-journalists-covering-protests-in-afghanistan\/\">journalists are beaten, arrested, tortured<\/a> and women journalists are <a href=\"https:\/\/rsf.org\/en\/news\/fewer-100-kabuls-700-women-journalists-still-working\">disappearing<\/a> from the Afghan media landscape.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Rukhshana Media In the most recent restriction on media and women, the Taliban banned television channels from airing movies with women actors, the group\u2019s senior officials said on Sunday.
