{"id":5144,"date":"2021-12-12T21:37:20","date_gmt":"2021-12-12T17:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/?p=5144"},"modified":"2021-12-12T21:38:29","modified_gmt":"2021-12-12T17:08:29","slug":"taliban-banned-womens-faces-and-voices-on-television-and-radio-in-takhar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rukhshana.com\/en\/taliban-banned-womens-faces-and-voices-on-television-and-radio-in-takhar\/","title":{"rendered":"Taliban banned women\u2019s faces and voices on television and radio in Takhar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><br>By Rukhshana Media<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following the Taliban\u2019s two media regulations released in September and November, the group has banned the broadcast of women\u2019s voices and faces on radio and television in the northeastern province of Takhar, the Afghan Journalists Safety Committee (AJSC) said in a new report released on Sunday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe treatment of journalists by [the Taliban] government officials&#8230;has improved&#8230;but broadcasting of women\u2019s faces in serials and movies is forbidden and women&#8217;s voices are not allowed to broadcast in radios,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/ajsc.af\/388\/Media-Weekly-Review-2nd-Week-of-Dec-Dari\">AJSC report <\/a>reads.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report, which provides a general overview of the situation of journalists and media in 16 provinces, also states that the Taliban\u2019s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice banned the broadcast of music on radios in the northern province of Jawzjan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Furthermore, the Taliban ministry has imposed new restrictions on media in the northern province of Balkh, including forced \u201chijab\u201d for women journalists and a ban on music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Taliban\u2019s first media regulation was issued on September 19, in which the group asked journalists and media not to produce content \u201ccontrary to Islam\u201d and not to report on \u201cmatters that have not been confirmed by officials.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second media regulation, issued on November 21 by the Taliban\u2019s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, ordered media to not broadcast movies that are opposed to the \u201cprinciples of Sharia and Afghan values\u201d and depict \u201cwomen actors.\u201d It also ordered forced \u201chijab\u201d for women journalists working for local TV channels.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new restriction comes amid growing concern over the Taliban\u2019s media censorship and exclusion of women journalists from working in the media.
