A man killed his wife, four children, and four more relatives on Sunday, June 12, in western Zaranj city, the capital of Nimroz province, local sources said.
The motive behind the killing is yet unclear. Bahram Haqmal, a spokesman for the Taliban in Nimroz province, said the suspect was identified as Wais.
Wais first killed his wife and children in his own house, then carried out an attack on his father-in-law’s house, killing four more people including his parents-in-law.
He also wounded his second wife who is pregnant. She is under treatment in a hospital.
Abdul Salam, Wais’s brother-in-law, confirmed the incident, saying his brother was also wounded. He said the suspect fled after he committed the horrendous crime.
