Female students at Herat University were forced to sign letters, promising they would observe the Taliban’s strict mandatory hijab when they enter the University, sources said.
One source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to security reasons, said all female students have to put on masks, and they aren’t allowed to wear make-up while on campus.
She said female students aren’t allowed to bring smartphones or take photos or videos inside the University or classrooms, based on commitment letter they signed.
A second source, who herself signed the letter, said there is a graph in the letter that states those who disobey the order, would be punished. She also asked us to not publish her name.
The Taliban also told the female students, who live in the hostel, that they aren’t allowed to spend the night with their relatives or friends in Herat city, according to the female student. They all have to return to the hostel by nightfall.
