The Taliban publicly flogged 12 people, including a woman, accused of theft and adultery in Nad Ali district of Helmand province on Wednesday, December 21.
Mawlawi Qasim Riaz, the Taliban deputy director of Information and Culture for Helmand province, tells Rukhshana Media that they were lashed in the presence of hundreds of people in the province.
Mr. Riaz adds that the primary court of the district sentenced them to 25 to 39 lashes.
On Sunday, December 18, 24 people, including three women, were publicly lashed at a sports stadium in northern Jawzjan province.
