The Taliban’s vice and virtue police have detained a young woman and man in west Kabul, allegedly for having illicit relationship, local sources told Rukhshana Media.
The two were at a restaurant in Qala-e-Naw area of west Kabul and were taken to an undisclosed location, according to a witness.
“Many people had gathered at the scene on Saturday, and the Taliban forces forcibly dragged the young woman towards their Ford Ranger vehicle in front of everyone,” the witness said.
“There were no female police officers present; they grabbed the woman by her arms and forced her into the vehicle, while they beat the boy.”
Meanwhile, another anonymous source said the Taliban vice and virtue police entered the restaurant, went directly to the family section, and took the young woman and man outside without asking any questions.
“They insulted the girl, calling her a ‘whore,’ and told her, ‘We have shed blood for our religion, and you want to defame it?’ They punched and kicked the young man before dragging him into the vehicle,” the source added.
The Taliban has detained many individuals across the country on charges of “moral corruption”. However, such incidents are rarely reported in the media.
