The Taliban police in the western city of Herat, arrested five people, including two women on the charge of “moral corruption,” on Saturday.
“The police personnel of the Police District 7 in Herat arrested 5 people, including three men and two women who had the intention of committing moral corruption,” a statement by the Taliban police reads.
The statement added that they were arrested “in the act of moral corruption.”
The statement does not provide more information on the nature of the alleged crime. But previously, a Taliban official confirmed to Rukhshana Media that “moral corruption” means prostitution.
Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, there has been a rise in arrests on the charge of “moral corruption.” Last month, the Taliban arrested 18 people, half of whom were women, on the same charge in Herat.
