A small group of Afghan women, known as Women’s Unity and Solidarity Team, protested in northern Afghanistan on Monday, calling on the Taliban to put an end to the targeted killings of their opponents.
The protesters, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, called the ongoing killings “genocide.” They said young women and those who are against the Taliban are getting killed every day in Afghanistan.
The group of three women protesters held placards in a street which said “crimes are enough,” “genocide is enough,” and “we want security.”
The women criticized the extrajudicial killing of a young man by the Taliban fighters. The video of Taliban fighters brutally shooting the man to death has gone viral on social media.
Dozens of former government’s security forces have been forcibly disappeared or executed by the Taliban since they came to power, Human Rights Watch said.
