Taliban forces dispersed a group of 30-40 protesters who took to the street in west Kabul on Saturday afternoon, October 8, in solidarity with a worldwide protest against the Hazara genocide and detained some of them.
One of the protestors, who preferred not to be named due to security reasons, told Rukhshana Media that the Taliban surrounded them and did not allow anyone to take photos and videos of the protest.
The protester added that the Taliban forces took some of the protesters away with them.
Another protester, on condition of anonymity, told Rukhshana Media that Taliban forces assaulted them with rifle butts.
“I was filming the protest when two Taliban forces assaulted,” the protester said. “I managed to flee, but one of the protesters was detained.”
With signs reading “Stop Hazara Genocide,” protesters in more than 90 cities around the world, took to the streets to protest the attack on the Kaaj tuition centre students in west Kabul in a Hazara neighbourhood that left at least 57 students – mostly girls and wounded another 114.
