Mullahs and Imams of several mosques in Mazar-e-Sharif city of northern Balkh province asked the city’s residents not to participate in protests against the suspension of girls’ education in the country during Friday prayers, Mazar-e-Sharif residents tell Rukhshana Media.
“The mullah said the Taliban asked him to pass the message to the people,” Habib, a resident of Dasht-e-Shor area of Mazar-e-Sharif city says. “If anything happens, you will be responsible for it.”
Our reporter in Mazar-e-Sharif also confirms that she has heard the message through a mosque’s loudspeaker.
Yesterday the Taliban violently dispersed a women’s street rally against the Taliban’s decision banning them from attending their classes in Kabul.
