A woman from the Aino Meena township in district eleven of Kandahar city is believed to have died by her own hand.
Hafiz Saber, the Taliban spokesman for Kandahar police, said the woman’s death occurred on Thursday.
The woman’s husband has claimed that she committed suicide however Mr. Saber says the incident will be investigated and did not rule out the possibility she was murdered.
The woman was known to be 30 years old. She had a son from a previous marriage and no children with her second husband.
Mr. Saber did not provide details about the identity of the couple. He added that the woman’s relationship with her husband has not been good for unknown reasons.
Taliban officials say that domestic violence is one of the main causes of suicides in women.
