Members of the Historical Transformation Movement staged a protest in Kabul today, calling for international intervention against the Taliban’s disregard for Afghan women’s rights.
The protesters gathered around 7:30 AM, chanting slogans such as “The Taliban commit crimes, the world supports them,” “Education, work, freedom,” “One voice for liberation,” “Afghanistan’s embassies, the last remnants of Afghanistan,” “The terrorist regime must be condemned,” “Save Afghanistan from the humanitarian disaster,” and “Unconditional freedom is our message.”
They criticized the international community and European countries for transferring Afghanistan’s embassies to the Taliban.
The head of the movement Ruqia Saie said that the protest lasted approximately 30 minutes due to concerns about a potential confrontation with Taliban forces.
Over the past three years under Taliban rule, Afghan women have actively fought to reclaim their rights and freedoms despite facing severe repression.
According to the movement’s statement, this struggle has involved imprisonment, flogging, executions, rape, and stoning.
The statement condemned arbitrary executions, imprisonment of women and protesters, and public flogging, all of which have been reported by international media.
It warned that the continuation of Taliban ideology represents a serious threat to global stability.
“The Taliban government, whose leaders are sought by Interpol, occasionally travels freely to various countries, which is a warning sign for the region and the world,” the statement read.
It also criticized the transfer of Afghanistan’s embassies to the Taliban, describing it as an action that emboldens the regime’s oppressive policies.
The Historical Transformation Movement urged the international community and human rights organizations to support the establishment of a democratic government in Afghanistan.
