The Taliban have publicly flogged a woman in Faryab province on charges of adultery and running away from home on Monday, according to a statement from the Taliban Supreme Court.
She received 30 lashings and was sentenced to six months imprisonment, according to the statement. The Taliban court officials, administrative staff, and residents had attended the flogging.
Two weeks ago, the Taliban publicly flogged two women in Sar-e Pol and Ghor provinces who were accused of adultery and fleeing from home.
Since taking control of the country in August 2021, the Taliban have publicly flogged hundreds of individuals, including women.
The ongoing use of corporal punishment by the Taliban has faced significant criticism from human rights organizations and the United Nations, both of which have repeatedly urged the group to halt these practices.
In response, the Taliban have characterized the issue as an internal matter and have called on other countries to refrain from interfering in their affairs.
