The Taliban forces have publicly flogged thirteen people, including two women on charges of sodomy, robbery, and running away from home in Kunar and Wardak province, the Taliban Supreme Court said in two separate statements.
The statement said they received between 15 and 39 lashes and were sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 15 days to two years.
Two weeks ago, a woman was publicly flogged in Faryab province for charges of adultery and running away from home.
The United Nations Human Rights Council has condemned the Taliban’s use of corporal punishment and called for an immediate end to these practices.
