The Taliban forces have publicly flogged four individuals, including a woman in Kooz Kunar district of Nangarhar province on Tuesday, the Taliban Supreme Court said in a statement.
They received 39 lashes each on charges of illicit relationship and running away from home, the statement said.
On Monday, three individuals, including a woman, were publicly flogged in Parwan province on charges of sodomy and fleeing from from home.
The UN and human rights organizations have condemned the Taliban’s corporal punishment as inhumane and a violation of human rights, urging an end to such practices.
However, the Taliban defend these actions as part of Islamic Sharia and request no interference in their internal affairs.
