The Taliban forces have flogged three people, including a woman, on charges of sodomy and running away from home, the Taliban Supreme Court announced on Monday.
Those found guilty of sodomy received 39 lashes and a six-month prison sentence, according to the statement. Meanwhile, those accused of adultery also received 39 lashes but were sentenced to one year in prison.
The statement added that the flogging took place in the presence of local judicial, administrative, and military officials, as well as some citizens of the province, at the local court in Parwan.
In another statement, the Taliban Supreme Court reported that a man was publicly flogged in the Dawlatabad district of Faryab for adultery.
Despite widespread condemnation, the Taliban’s corporal punishment of both women and men continues across the country.
