A 14-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself to death in Qadis district of north-western Badghis province on Tuesday, October 11, a Taliban local official said.
Saleh Mohammad Pordel, the Taliban district governor for Qadis, said the teenage boy committed suicide around 11 a.m. local time on Friday. It was not clear why he killed himself, Pordel said.
The incident happened in Khairkhana area of the province.
Pordel said according to the victim’s father, Rahmatullah, he was not suffering from any kind of mental illness.
He added that the victim hanged himself after playing with other children.
Recently, the Taliban’s ministry of public health announced that half the Afghan population suffers from severe mental stress due to various factors.
