Unknown gunmen shot dead a young girl in district 9 of Mazar-e-Sharif today afternoon, November 28, local sources say.
According to the sources, the incident happened around 1:00 PM in Naw Abad area of the city.
The victim is identified as 24-year-old Habiba Rahimi, who was a doctor in a local hospital in the province.
“Habiba was on her way to work,” an eyewitness tells Rukhshana Media. “When a group of armed robbers stopped her to steal her mobile phone, but she resisted and they shot her dead.”
A source in the provincial hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity, tells Rukshana Media that the victim is shot in her head.
Our reporter could not get connected to the victim’s family or relatives despite repeated attempts. The Taliban local officials also have not commented in connection to the incident.
Mysterious murders of young women and girls have recently increased in some provinces, especially in the north of the country.
