In a meeting between journalists and Taliban officials in Kandahar on Wednesday, December 28, in a new order, they asked the media not to invite guests who are against their recognition as a legitimate government.
A source from today’s meeting, who does not want to be named tells Rukhshana Media that the Taliban’s in charge of the media control that’s under the Taliban intelligence agency asked the media they must not share critical views and should stop inviting those who are against the Taliban and their legitimacy.
Arslan Mobarez, the Taliban’s head of intelligence for media control, told the journalists at the meeting that all their previous orders, including the prohibition of playing music, adhering to the clothing order, segregated offices for men and women, and ban on foreign tv series should be applied to the media as well.
Arsalan said that the “poetry recital” should be coordinated with the Taliban’s Information and Culture directorate in the provinces, and meanwhile, women’s views as experts should not be broadcast unless the subject is Islamic and health issues.
The Taliban have imposed many restrictions on media since they regained full control of Afghanistan in August last year. They have ordered female TV presenters and other women on screen to cover their faces while on air.
