Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have called on EU member states to create a special visa program for Afghan women seeking protection.
This proposal is presented in a resolution of the European Parliament, which was approved by a majority of its members on Thursday (September 16th).
In the Statement, members of the European Parliament expressed concern over reports of human rights violations, including the execution, recruitment of children, the suppression of peaceful protests, and the restriction of human rights, especially women’s rights in Afghanistan.
The European Parliament has also urged EU member states to reassess Afghan asylum applications, including those rejected so far, and not to forcibly send Afghans to Afghanistan under any circumstances.
