Four children were killed and three more wounded in an explosion triggered by an unexploded ordnance in Naad Ali district of Helmand province on Saturday, September 3, a local Taliban official said.
The victims were madrasa students.
Hafiz Rashid Helmandi, the Taliban spokesman for Helmand governor, said among the dead victims were two girls and two boys. He didn’t identify the gender of three wounded children.
A local source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said a group of six children found an unexploded round, and they were playing with it when it went off.
He put the number of deaths to three, with three more wounded, who were transported to Emergency Hospital in Lashkargah city, Helmand’s provincial capital.
He said the victims were the students of “Khalifa Baba” madras in the center of Naad Ali district.
