A teenager and a 22-year-old woman have been violently killed in northern Takhar province, allegedly at the hands of their family members, local sources* said.
Bibi Nuria, 19, was allegedly suffocated by her father Abdul Karim, who is a local member of the Taliban, a source told Rukhshana Media.
The family lived in the Tarsak Kandahari area of Takhar’s Ishkamish district.
Sources said Mr Karim has been arrested by Taliban forces for his daughter’s murder.
In Takhar’s Darqad district, a young woman Bibi Jamila was allegedly killed by her husband Abdullah on Friday.
The 22-year-old died late Friday night after her husband allegedly shot her with a hunting gun at their home in the Qaghni area.
Abdullah has been arrested by local Taliban forces for his wife’s murder, the source said.
Women and girls are reportedly being murdered in increasing numbers in Afghanistan, but no official records have been kept since the Taliban took power in August 2021 to verify this claim.
