On Sunday, September 26, some former employees of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs staged a protest in front of the Taliban’s Ministry of Vice and Virtue, the ministry that replaced the women’s ministry in Kabul. The women protestors demanded their political, economic, and social rights.
The protestors called on the international community and the Taliban to respect their social and political rights. They released a statement, demanding that women should be allowed to return to their jobs. “Women of Afghanistan will not go back,” the statement reads.
Since the Taliban seized control of the country and banned women’s education and work, Afghan women have organized several protests, in several provinces, demanding their rights. Although the Taliban claims the measures are temporary, women say, they don’t trust the Taliban.
