Half a dozen female activists held an indoor protest in a house in northern Afghanistan, demanding the release of several women protesters.
Taliban released of a video of women in their captivity a few days ago, apparently forcing them to confess that they were foreign paid protesters. Taliban had initially rejected they were behind the detention.
Indoor protesters condemned the forced confessions.
Torture of women and their forced confessions are Islamic laws,” one placard held a woman read”.
One of the women, who took part in indoor protest, said the goal of the protest was condemn the illegal detention and forced confession of women.
She rejected that female protester taking to the streets to apply for asylum in foreign cases.
She said organizing peaceful protest is the right of every citizen and the Taliban should release protesters who are in their custody.
Some women’s rights activists launched a social media campaign criticizing the detention of women and their forced confessions.
