Local sources in Daikundi province say that Taliban forces have arrested a policewoman along with her two sisters.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a source said the policewoman, Sabro Rezayi, had been employed by the previous government and served in the women’s recruitment department of the provincial police headquarters, she continued working after the Taliban regained power.
The source told Rukhshana Media her sisters were arrested in Nili-e-Jadid township, the capital of Daikundi province after they got into an argument with an old man about wearing hijab and criticized the Taliban.
“When Rezayi’s sisters had a verbal fight with that old man,” the source said. “The Taliban intelligence forces were also present at the place.”
The next day Sabro went to the township to try to apologize to the man for her sisters’ behavior, but was unable to find him.
She was then detained by Taliban sources after she tried to secure her sisters’ release. A source suggested she was imprisoned because of anti-Taliban posts on Facebook during the republic.
Nearly a week later, there is no information on her fate.
Taliban forces had previously arrested Mahtab Hamdard, a former employee of Daikundi Provincial Criminal Directorate during the previous government, from Ghazni Province and transferred her to an unknown place.
A Rukhshana Media reporter tried to get information from Mahtab Hamdard’s family members, but her family refused to provide any details.
