The Taliban’s department of Information and Culture prevented a female journalist from attending a press conference on Thursday, May 19, in western Herat province, a local source said.
The conference was organized by the Taliban’s department of Information and Culture in Herat for better coordination between the local Taliban government, media and journalists in the province.
Naeem Ul-Haq Haqqani, the Taliban’s director of Information and Culture department, instructed his gaurds not to allow one female reporter to enter the conference hall, the source said. She was the only female journalist present in the group of journalists who came to participate in the conference.
Rukhshana Media inaccurately reported yesterday that more than one female journalist wasn’t allowed to attend the conference. We now know it was only one female journalist.
