Three female graduates who graduated from Mirwais Nika Institute of Higher Education in Zabul were not allowed to attend their own graduation ceremony, a local source said.
The ceremony was held on Monday, June 6, in southern Zabul province.
The source, who himself was among the male graduates, said 72 students including three women graduated from Mirwais Nika Institute of Higher Education. They studied chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics.
The diplomas of the female graduates were handed over to their male relatives, according to the source.
In March, the Taliban issued a letter stating that female students should not participate in mixed academic gatherings.
