The dead body of a young woman was found naked in Bamyan city, capital of the central province by the same name, a senior Taliban official said on Tuesday.
“The body was found this morning in the Jalal Tappa area of Bamyan city,” said Maulvi Siddiqullah Musafir, the Taliban police chief in the province.
“Signs of beating were visible on her body,” he said, adding that the body was transferred to the provincial hospital for further investigation.
There is no information yet about the identity of the woman.
The news comes amid a wave of targeted killings of women activists and former military personnel across the country, three months after the Taliban regained control of the country.
On November 6, Rukhshana Media reported the death of a 29-year-old activist, Frozan Safi, whose family found her bullet-ridden body in the city hospital after it was found in a pit near Mazar-i-Sharif, capital of northern Balkh province.
Four more bodies, including two women whose identities are unknown, were also transferred to Mazar-i-Sharif’s hospital on November 2.
