Two young women have violently died in separate incidents of alleged murder and suicide in northern Faryab province, local sources say.
A 20-year-old married woman was tortured and killed by her father over an alleged affair, at least three sources have claimed.
Arya was living in the Toghalmast area of Faryab’s Bilchiragh district when her father-in-law accused her of having an extramarital affair, a local source said.
After that, her own father beat her and killed her by hanging, the source said.
A separate source said Taliban forces have arrested the girl’s father and the person with whom Arya allegedly had an extramarital affair.
However, local officials of the Taliban in Faryab province have not officially said anything in connection with the incident.

The 18-year-old died at home on Saturday February 10 in the Diwana Shana of Faryab’s Almar district, according to a local source who requested anonymity.
No other details about the victim were provided.
The Taliban’s provincial spokesperson Ismatullah Muradi said the woman’s death was ruled a suicide, and quoted her relatives as saying she had suffered from domestic violence.
He said that the Taliban have started investigating the incident.
It’s been less than two weeks since a 17-year-old girl in the Saldoz Tepa area of Faryab’s Andkhoy district allegedly killed herself by hanging in a desperate bid to avoid a forced marriage.
Violence against girls and women and reports of suicide among young women have been increasing since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, although no official records are being maintained by the de facto authorities.
