The Taliban forces have publicly flogged four individuals, including two women, on charges of adultery and fornication in Takhar and Logar provinces, according to statements from the Taliban Supreme Court.
The flogging occurred in the Farkhar district of Takhar and the Kharwar district of Logar on October 20 and 21.
Those found guilty of adultery received between 35 and 39 lashes, along with a sentence of four months in prison. Meanwhile, individuals accused of fornication were each given 39 lashes, the statement said.
Last week, thirteen individuals, including two women were publicly flogged in Khost and Wardak provinces on charges of sodomy, robbery, and running away from home.
The United Nations Human Rights Council has condemned the Taliban’s use of corporal punishment, calling for an immediate end to these practices.
However, the Taliban have consistently labeled corporal punishment as an internal affair and have requested that external entities refrain from interfering in their internal matters.
