The Taliban morality police have beaten and arrested four young women for “improper” clothing in Nili district of Daikundi province on Monday afternoon, sources in the province told Rukhshana Media.
A close source to one of the detainees, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they have been beaten for wearing short and colorful scarves.
The Taliban released one of them on Monday late in the evening after her family promised that she would observe the all-covering hijab, according to the source.
The source said her mental health is in poor condition.
“She has nightmares and screams at night,” the source said. “The Taliban has slapped her.”
The source said she is not aware of the rest of them.
The Taliban vice and virtue police have arrested several women and girls from different parts of Kabul city since their crackdown began on January 1.
