An explosion during a noon prayer at a religious school in Bandar area of Aybak district of northern Samangan province has left at least 35 killed, including 22 children on Wednesday, November 30, local sources say.
A local reporter, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to security reasons, tells Rukhshana Media that the explosion has happened in a madrassa called “Aljihadi”.
According to the Samangan Provincial Hospital director, 55 wounded people have been transferred to the hospital, including 28 children under 15, the reporter adds.
According to a source in the hospital, all the victims are men and boys.
“A suicide bomber entered the madrassa and detonated himself,” the source says.
Meanwhile, Naafe Takor, the Taliban spokesman for the interior ministry, confirms the incident, however, he says that nearly 10 people have been killed and many have been wounded in the incident.
Social media footage from the attack shows many bodies on the ground.
