A man shot dead five people including his wife and wounded one in northern province of Faryab on Monday, April 11, Bakhtar News Agency reported.
Mawlawi Shamsuddin, a local Taliban official in Faryab, told Bakhtar, a state-owned media outlet, that the suspect was a drug addict. He first shot dead his wife, then began shooting at his in-laws, killing three more, and wounding his father-in-law severely.
The fifth dead victim was a Taliban fighter who, along with a team, came to arrest the suspect who had taken shelter in a mosque.
The suspect was identified as Farahuddin. He was killed in an hours-long armed confrontation with the Taliban, Etilaat Roz reports. Farahuddin was also involved in the illegal business of buying and selling weapons.
