The Taliban have whipped seven people, including three women, in Ghazni, Kapisa, and Paktia provinces on Wednesday, according to the Taliban supreme court statements.
The individuals received 39 lashes each and were sentenced to prison terms ranging from six months to one year on charges of running away from home, adultery, robbery, and “immorality”, the statements said.
Despite criticism from human rights organizations, the Taliban continue to enforce corporal punishment, claiming it is in accordance with Sharia law.
