The Taliban forces have publicly whipped 10 people, including two women, in Ghor, Khost, and Balkh provinces on Thursday, according to the Taliban Supreme Court statements.
The individuals received between 25 to 39 lashes and were sentenced to prison terms ranging from four months to four years on charges of “moral corruption”, adultery, and sodomy, the statements said.
Human rights organizations have widely criticized the Taliban’s corporal punishments as a violation of basic human rights. However, the Taliban claim that they are enforcing Islamic Sharia law.
