The body of a woman who was brutally murdered has been found in a water well on Thursday, June 2, in northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif, local sources said.
One source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the victim’s name is Rita and she is 33 years old. She was killed by husband whose name is Momin after a heated verbal argument.
The Taliban police in Mazar-e-Sharif confirmed they have pulled a mutilated body of a woman out of a well.
Mohammad Asif Waziri, the Taliban’s spokesman in Mazar-e-Sharif, said Rita was killed three months ago, and that four suspects including Momin’s two brothers were detained. Momin and his other wife have fled after the carrying out the alleged murder.
Momin chopped Rita’s head, legs and arms before throwing her body into a well, Waziri added. Family dispute said to be reason behind the murder.
The mysterious killings of women continue across Afghanistan in recent months, with Mazar-e-Sharif bearing the brunt of such crimes.
