The Taliban’s Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has banned Afghanistan television networks from broadcasting foreign soap operas, a source from a private channel said.
The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, didn’t provide further details.
Meanwhile, Moby Group, Afghanistan’s largest private media company which owns three television networks, including Tolo, and two radio stations, said on Twitter that it has received an order from the Taliban to stop airing foreign shows.
The Taliban have imposed numerous restrictions on the media and journalists since they have taken the power last year.
