The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that 1.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be expired if not administered soon.
In a Twitter post on October 5, WHO has said that since the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August, COVID-19 testing, and vaccination have declined across the country.
To administer the 1.6 million doses, WHO and “partners are boosting testing and supporting the rollout of a vaccination campaign in 16 provinces,” the tweet reads.
So far, around 120.000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Afghanistan, according to the Ministry of Public Health.
