A futsal tournament for Afghan girls in Pakistan’s Quetta Balochistan was held this week in a symbolic protest movement against the oppression of women and girls in Afghanistan.
The Afghan Women’s Movement for Justice organized the event to make a statement in support of women’s right.
“The light of oppression will not burn until dawn,” the group said in a statement.
The movement sought to highlight the continuation of women’s struggle against the misogynist actions and policies of the Taliban.
The statement said it called for the “rights and restoration of the most basic rights of women” by organizing a futsal tournament in Quetta for Afghan women immigrants of the country.
The statement continued that Afghan women and girls have brought the greatest honors to themselves, their families, and the country with the least facilities.
It emphasized the struggle and standing of the movement’s members on the enlightenment and right-seeking orbit and said that they use every opportunity for the improvement and development of women and girls.
The movement said that it will continue the struggle against the Taliban’s gender discrimination and will not allow brutality and barbarism to hold the fate of millions of people hostage.
The de facto government of Afghanistan has launched a new campaign since January 1 of beating and detaining girls and women in Kabul in an apparent crackdown on the dress code.
