A gunman killed a mother and wounded her daughter on Thursday, May 12, in Jaghori district of Ghazni province, local sources said.

The incident happened in Kata Sanga-e-Bala village.
The suspect is the man who repeatedly asked the victim family’s daughter’s hand in marriage, said a source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. But the family refused to accept the proposal.
Mawlawi Hafiz Faizi, the Taliban district governor for Jaghori, said the killer is a relative of the victim’s family who wanted to marry 19-year-old Elham, a high school graduate. But Elham’s father, Samad Ehsani, engaged her to another man, a source said.

Elham was wounded and her mother was killed in the shooting. Her fiancé, who was also present, escaped unhurt.

No one was detained in connection to the shooting and the suspect was at large. Rukhshana Media could not reach Samad Ehsani for comment.
