A mother was killed when she was trying to stop her two adult children from fighting in Marja district of Helmand province on Friday, June 3, a local Taliban official said.
The dispute between the two brothers started over access to irrigation stream for their farmlands, then their verbal argument quickly transpired into an armed conflict, said Mawlawi Zaid, the Taliban official in Marja.
One of the brothers accidently shot dead his mother, and wounded the other brother. The suspect was detained by Taliban fighters, Zaid added.
