Taliban publicly whip a young man and woman for alleged adultery in Bamyan

A man and a woman have been publicly whipped by the Taliban forces for alleged adultery in a local stadium in front of Buddha statues in central Bamyan province on Thursday, November 17, local sources report.

A local source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to security reasons, says that twenty-four-year-old Arezo and 26-year-old Mohammad Ishaq had come to Bamyan from Kabul for their vacation a month ago.

According to the source, they were both arrested by the Taliban forces in Band-e-Amir.

The source says that the Taliban forces whipped them 29 lashes each.

A witness of today’s incident tells Rukshana Media that the two lovers were imprisoned after being arrested and their case was transferred to Kabul, and after about a month, each of them was sentenced to 29 lashes by the Taliban Supreme Court.

Another source, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, says that around 400 People attended the flogging.

According to the source, the Taliban forces did not allow anyone to take photos or videos of their kangaroo court.
