A 21-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging herself to death on Friday, September 16, in Khan Chahar Bagh district of Faryab province, according to a police report obtained by Rukhshana Media.
The victim, identified as Rozi Gul, committed suicide at around 11 a.m. local time on Friday. It was not clear why she killed herself, the police report said.
The body of the woman was released to her family after the doctors, who examined it at a local hospital, found no marks of torture on it.
The women’s protection system has been dismantled following the collapse of the former government one year ago.
The Taliban have dissolved almost all women’s rights support organizations such as the Ministry of Women Affairs and Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission.
They have also abolished laws aimed to protect women. As a result, the violence against women and suicide committed by them have surged across Afghanistan.
